With the 2021 NBA draft just weeks away, we’re going to be discussing two potential draft picks, and how I think they will fare in the upcoming NBA draft. One is Jalen Green, a shooting guard with a ton of athleticism, and the other is Evan Mobley, a big man who can do everything.

Cade Cunningham, OSU Cowboys

Everyone is assuming that Cade Cunningham, the 6'8" point guard, will be picked #1 overall by the Detroit Pistons, so the Rockets will most likely be choosing between Green and Mobley.

Let’s get into strengths and weaknesses. I’ve never been a big fan of math or stats or anything, but just for this I dove deep and searched every inch of every sports stats website. So here you go.

Evan Mobley is 7 feet tall, he was born in Murrieta, California in 2001. In his Freshman year of college at USC, he averaged 33.9 minutes per game, 16.4 points per game, and 8.7 rebounds per game. He made 134 out of 193 free throws and had a 69.4 free throw percentage. During that season he had 90 offensive rebounds, 196 defensive rebounds, 79 assists, 95 blocks, 26 steals, 58 fouls, 74 turnovers, and 540 points.

Jalen Green is 6'5", he was born in Merced, California in 2002. Instead of playing basketball for a college, he signed with the NBA G League. During his time playing for the G League team, Ignite, he made over $500,000. He also got to prove himself by competing with former NBA players. During his only season with Ignite, he averaged17.9 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game.

According to the stats, Green is definitely more of a scorer than Mobley, which is expected as he is a guard. Mobley is definitely the better rebounder of the two, as he has 7 inches on Green.

Both of the teams in the number two and three spots have decent centers, so the question is, which team needs a scorer like Green more. I think that the Rockets, after losing James Harden, could really use a good player like Jalen Green. So in my unprofessional opinion, I think that Jalen Green will go number two to the Houston Rockets, and Evan Mobley will go number three to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think in the comments.
